Do's and Don'ts While in NYC
From THEA435
This page is a collaborative effort to create a "Code of Conduct" of sorts amongst the members of the class while on the trip to NYC. This can and will include how to behave in theaters, on the streets, while in interviews with contacts, while in the hotel, at classes, etc...
- Exercise personal hygiene. You'll be in close quarters, no one wants to live with a "Survivor" contestant.
- Dress appropriately for whatever you are doing. Remember, there will be LOTS of walkiing.
- Be Patient. DON'T BE A DIVA, just work it out.
- Show respect other people's property, space, etc.
- You are representing the school and everyone you are associated with, so act accordingly.
- Don't be obnoxious and draw attention to yourself on the streets, in the subway, in the theatre or anywhere else . . . decorum is key.
- Cell phones OFF in the theatre, while in an interview, and in Gregg's presence. This includes intermission of shows. It should never be on inside the theatre building.
- Absolutely No Whining! Wine goes with cheese. Life's hard.
- Be supportive of each other. GROUP HUG!!!
- Buddy System. Always let your buddy know where you are.
- Prepare for the experience. Prepare your questions. Know where you are going. Know what you're doing.
- No visible hickies. Really. (Do we really have to say this?)
- Be respectful of those who are sleeping. Be willing to compromise.
- Get your rest. No sleeping in the theatre.
- Your mommies and daddies aren't here. And they aren't your classmates.
- Keep your space neat-ish. Let's be real. Who wants to make their own bed?
- Two bags a person with a carry-on. Pack light. Leave those alligator pumps or square toe dress shoes at home.
- Be responsible for yourself.
- Take care of yourself. Eat well, Get rest. It's a long week with lots of work. You need this advantage.
- This group is big. We can't always all be together. Lose the pack mentality.
